Holiday cheer, food and aloha were served up to those in need during a special Christmas Eve Hawaiian Luau for the Homeless held Tuesday afternoon at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona.

The free event, hosted by Umeke’s Poke &Local Style Lunch Bowls owner Nakoa Pabre, Chubby’s Diner, staff, family and friends, drew dozens of people, both young and old, who received a Hawaiian luau-style meal including beef stew, kalua pig and cabbage, laulau, ahi belly, chicken long rice, mac salad, rice and dessert as well as toiletries and slippers, toys for the keiki, books provided by Keiki O Ka Aina and donated clothing.
